Seriously, why do so many cops have mustaches?

It seems that A LOT of male law enforcement personnel have mustaches? Is there something culturally that tells LE officers/deputies to grow mustaches, or is it just a coinsidental observation? I am not trying to be bias or reinforce a stereotype. So serious answers only please. Thank you for your input.
