Which one is true about guys!?

Wellllll I was talking to my guy friends today (one in 9th grade, the other in 8th) and they were talking about which girls they thought were hot, and it was mainly the ones with like a lot of makeup, slutty, etc. I always hear " Oh guys don't like a ton of make up, they like natural beauty, and they don't like tramps." But then I see the exact opposite. I was like " but their not ACTually pretty, its an illusion, it's only the make up." and their like " who cares?! its hot!!!" and then they were saying how they mainly date girls because their hot, and how they wouldn't date them if their personality was like AWFUL but if it was just boring or something, as long as they were hot, they wouldn't care. To me, I have to date someone I'm physically attracted but they don't have to be no taylor lautner just if they have like good hygeine and healthy weight and stuff it's fine, but personality counts a TONNNN for me! Why don't guys think the same way? I mean besides physical differences we're generally the same mentally right? ughh soo confusing. help would be much appreciated. :)
