Who can I call about an unemployment hearing?

Did you fill out a W-4 form when you started to work. If not, you might be considered an independent contractor, which is possibly the reason the employer did not pay unemployment benefits for you. If you have requested a hearing to appeal the decision, you can go to Legal Aid for representation but I had this type of administrative hearing in New York. I was allowed to have anyone I wanted as my legal representative so a friend of mine went too. We had 3 hearings and the last time employer didnt show up so I won by default. If you are not considered to be laid off, what kind of termination did you have according to the Unemployment office?
