Why did Obama tell the judge to drop the charges on an Al-Qaeda terrorist?

First, those 'terrorists', or most of them, were kidnapped and taken by the US in a mafia fashion; their emprisonment is unlawful in international standards. Besides, most of them don't know why they got caught, ie they don't face any definite charges, which is against Geneva laws. Add to this the fact they are being torured there.
