Do You Think President Kennedy Could Have Been Re-Elected in 1964?
If President John F. Kennedy had not been inated, he likely would have run for re-election in 1964. Do you think he would have won the election? Consider the following: he oversaw the Bay of Pigs fiasco in Cuba, his summit with Kruschev in Vienna was a flop, the Berlin Wall was erected on his watch, and he was largely ineffective on the question of civil rights. He was not likely to carry very many Southern States, and was in Dallas tried to head off a split in the Texas Democratic party. Of course, if he had lived and had run for re-election in 1964, he would not have the glow of sympathy that was attached to Lyndon Johnson's 1964 campaign following the ination. uming the President Kennedy had lived, who do you think would have been the best Republican candidate to run against him? Barry Goldwater, who was nominated, Nelson Rockefeller, Richard Nixon, someone else? Thanks to all who reply.
